IT Management Slideshow: Five Enterprise Project Management Mistakes to Avoid


This slideshow from CIO Insight quickly reminds us of five mistakes to avoid in project management. While many CIOs are constantly aware of potential pitfalls, the ones listed in this presentation are a good reminder of areas that all of us can more acutely attend to and mitigate. The list includes a lacking alignment with key priorities (which will result in team members being pulled from one project to another once priorities are established), lack of established engagement with stakeholders, and a missing “proven approach” to completing work. Each mistake is followed by a solution that can be put in place. For instance, the mistake listed above (lack of aligning projects to key priorities) can be resolved by discussing priorities and projects with key executive management, making sure that the work you’re performing is the work that is desired.
